5th Round - Chad Reed Flawless at Sydney SuperX 16 November 2009 Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad Reed has won the 5th round of the 2009 Monster Energy SuperX Championship in outstanding fashion on board the Kawasaki KX450F. The World Champion was flawless at Parramatta on Saturday 14 November, qualifying fastest before going on to win his heat race and all four final motos.
After losing valuable Championship points in Canberra (due to a crash and subsequent 6th place round finish), Chad quickly got to work at Parramatta and is back on track to win back to back Championships. Claiming the maximum amount of points on offer for the round Chad has advanced himself to 2nd place in the series, only 1 point off the series leader.
In the 4 race survivor format staged at Parramatta, riders couldn’t afford a single bad moto with the final five riders in each moto being eliminated. Chad was never in doubt though, getting off to good starts including the holeshot win in the final moto to win each of the four races and the round.
Chad says, “I’m really really happy!” “I’m so happy to get good starts. We made some improvements with the tyres this weekend and I felt right at home. I felt I could lay it on the line and push and push and push.”
“I had a great week. I was able to go out and do jumps I hadn’t done all day long and get holeshots. That’s probably what I’m most excited about. I was able to get out, give myself a good chance and stay out of trouble.”
Chad continues his back to back series wins campaign at Waikato Stadium, New Zealand this Saturday 21 November. With two rounds remaining and only one point off the series lead, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad Reed must be considered a strong favourite to win the National Championship considering the speed and talent he is currently showing. |
